Practices Underway

Freeport United teams have begun training for the fall season. All rosters for Boys' and Girls' teams from Under-10 to Under-12 are full. There is still a chance to join the Under-14 Girls' team. Contact Coach Joe Heathco for more information.

New Team Formed!

Freeport United is excited to announce the formation of a new Under-11 Girls team for the Fall 2008 season. This group of girls did not play together last fall, but now they are ready to get started in the world of club soccer. This group had an excellent showing at tryouts and built momentum then for forming a new team.

Tryouts Complete; Teams Forming for the Fall Season

Freeport United's tryouts for the 2008 Fall season ended last week with great participation from new and returning players. Existing teams from the Under-11 to Under-14 age groups added several new players. We are particularly excited to be forming an Under-11 Girls' team after not having the Under-10s last year. The upcoming Under-10 Boys and Under-10 Girls had very strong participation. Thanks to all of the parents for their patience as the coaches got everything organized.

Soccer Maine releases Pine Tree League Schedule.

The Pine Tree League Schedule is now available on the Soccer Maine website. Freeport United teams all play five games each and will conclude the spring season by participating in the Coastal Summer Challenge tournament in Brunswick. A list of Freeport United games is on the Schedules page of this website.

Sign-ups and tryouts for new and returning players for all Freeport United teams are on Wednesday May 14 and Thursday May 15 (rain dates May 21 & 22) at the Freeport Recreational Complex from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM. Players should wear soccer shorts, socks, and shin pads and bring a soccer ball and water. All new players, especially Under-10 age group, are welcome to these sessions without prior registration or previous playing experience with Freeport United.

Boys' and Girls' teams
Under-10 (born after August 1st, 1998)
Under-11 (born after August 1st, 1997)
Under-12 (born after August 1st, 1996)
Under-13 (born after August 1st, 1995)
Under-14  (born after August 1st, 1994)

If an age group has too many interested players for one team but not enough to form two teams, options include player evaluations, developmental squads, shifting players to a higher age level, player rotations, and other methods. Through a flexible approach, Freeport United will strive to create the best soccer experience possible for interested players.

It's time to register for the Pine Tree League this spring. Fee for the spring season is $90. Go to the Resources page and click on the link for Player Registration. You will be re-directed to the Youth Leagues USA registration website. If a player was registered in the fall, make sure to use the "Register a Returning Player" button. All player registration fees should be mailed to the Club Registrar, not to team coaches.

Freeport United Coaches will be contacting their teams soon about participation in the Pine Tree League this spring. If you haven't heard from your team's coach by the end of the month, give them a call or send them an e-mail to find out about your team's plans.

Awards Ceremony

Freeport United players and families enjoyed the  annual awards ceremony at the Freeport Middle School gym. Over 100 players received recognition from their coaches for a great fall season. Well done!

TEAMS ADVANCE

The Under-12 and Under-13 Boys' teams and Under-14 Girls' teams have all advanced to the semi-finals of the Division II playoffs.

Congratulations to these three teams and good luck this coming weekend!
